I am still in the US and had to go through one in Tampa last week. It's weird, it feels like you walk into a time machine in one of those futuristic shows. I have no idea who was watching the scan or where they were hiding.

The part I don't like is that it takes you out of line which means your carry-ons are continuing down the row without you while those behind you pass through the regular detector. Whatever happened to not leaving your luggage unattended??

I'd put money down that busty women will become a big threat to American security soon and will all be pushed to use these full body scanners.

It's a step closer to that skeletal scanner screen used in Total Recall way back when. now that would be awesome.

Feds now admit to storing naked body images from scanners

Thursday, August 05, 2010
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Editor of NaturalNews.com

(NaturalNews)..."The U.S. Marshals Service admitted this week that it had surreptitiously saved tens of thousands of images recorded with a millimeter wave system at the security checkpoint of a single Florida courthouse." (link)

That same story points to a recently released document proving that the TSA actually requires its equipment to be able to record and store naked body images. This, despite the fact that the TSA publicly stated, "scanned images cannot be stored or recorded." It turns out they were flat-out lying.

So now we have an admission by the TSA that their equipment is, in fact, capable of storing these naked body images. On top of that, we have an admission that federal agents used that same technology to scan tens of thousands of people while secretly saving those images, too.

More naked body scanners coming to U.S. airports

Just two weeks ago, by the way, Big Sis Janet Napolitano announced that these full body scanners would be installed in nearly every major U.S. airport. So get ready have your private parts scanned and recorded by TSA agents, because that's what could be coming soon to an airport near you.

Another fascinating twist in this story concerns the current location of the more than 35,000 naked body scan images stored on the machine used at a federal courthouse. The machine was apparently returned to the manufacturer. This means the company that makes the full body scanners now reportedly possesses 35,000+ pictures showing the nude bodies of American citizens whose images were scanned and recorded without their knowledge!

Quote:
AFP - After a six-month test, Italy's government will drop the use of full-body scanners for security checks in airports, judging them slow and ineffective, Italian daily Corriere della Sera reported Thursday.

The scanners in the airports of Rome, Venice and the southern city of Palermo are no longer in use, and Milan's airport is likely to stop using the machines in the near future.

"We didn't get good results from body scanners during testing, it takes a long time to examine a person, more than with a manual inspection," said Vito Riggio, the president of Italy's aviation authority.

Officials also believe measures taken to address privacy concerns over the use of the scanners have dampened the machines' effectiveness at locating arms and explosives, Corriere della Sera reported.

Hopefully Italy isn't going to be alone in rejecting these machines.

Does this mean they'll find the foil wrapped zucchini I keep stuffed down my pants?

In all seriousness, what's the big deal? My 'dignity' isn't threatened. We're all adults here. Or are we going to all start giggling at the body scan images?

One could say that this wouldn't be a problem if we didn't have such outdated concepts of modesty and rampant insecurity about our bodies and a spirit of liberation and weren't all judgmental about appearances and blah blah blah.

Walk through the scanner. Remember, the operator is like a prostitute/doctor/mortician/drug tester- they've seen it all.

The machines are unnecessary and in bad taste.

The current paradigm from which we are governed is a revolt against all that is good and decent.

the problem is that the tech is misused. people that should be going thru the machines (ALL) aren't but those affected (you and i) will be subject to further 'checks' and difficulty when travelling. not worthwhile.

people are such sheep to go through with it. If everyone just opts out, they'd probably abandon it. Once everyone just accepts it without much though it becomes normalized into what is acceptable.
