Hi everyone! Sooo, a recruiter wants me to send them my documents for a visa in first before signing a contract? Should I do that when I haven't signed a contract or gotten a job offer from them? Can I make a copy of my CRC and diploma with notary and apostille for other recruiters? I'm very confused as to why I should send this in first. Thanks for any insights!

Bad Idea, at least get a job offer and contract before you send your docs.

Once the recruiter has your docs, basically you can't apply to anyone else, so if they dont have any jobs, or any good jobs, you're pretty much stuck with them until you can get your docs back. Remember, if you decide to work with another recruiter and ask for your documents back, your current recruiter has little incentive to return them promptly, if at all.

I wonder how many newbies fall for this trick? Just email photocopies of your docs to the recruiter.

This. They just want to make sure you have all the right documents together. I would refuse to send the originals so soon.

that aussie recruiter dude rowan (he often posts "cheeky"/retarded ads on the job board) asked me to do this. i categorically shot him down, and asked why anyone would be that stupid.

he claimed it was the only way to secure an interview.
