Hello to everyone,
I am from Australia and I am a native speaker with a degree from an Australian University and a TESOL IV certificate. I am currently in the process of applying for an EPIK teaching position (Feb 2011)
I was looking at the application form and I noticed that apart from your University degree they require details regarding your elementary, middle and High school years.
Because of my dad's work we had to relocate to Europe so I ended doing part of my schooling in Australia and part in Europe.
Do you know or do past EPIK applicants know if that plays a major role in an application. All the adverts say that you need a degree, be a native speaker and hold a passport, they don't mention anything about you early school years.
Has anyone been in the same situation as me? Will it hinder my chances of getting in? Do they actually check where you went to primary school or even high school?
If you could help that would be great
Take care everyone. |

From page 2 of the application:
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Have you studied in one of the seven (7) designated English-speaking countries beginning from the first year of middle school through high school and university for a minimum total of 10 years AND do you now or will you soon hold a Bachelors degree or its equivalent? |

I'm not suggesting lying, of course, but I don't think there's any way that they can confirm that - they don't even phone references very often, so there's no way that they have enough manpower and time to phone schools. Plus, I'm 98% sure that schools can't give out that information over the phone anyway.
List your Aussie schools & you'll be golden. |
