I think someone just wants to brag about showing Star Wars to a girl.... really, is it that difficult a question to ponder? |

Well, Dude. Before anyone used the word "Dude", those of us old enough to remember know that 4 and 6 were more popular than 5. Whether or not the legacy in the quarter century since has been more favorable to 5, whether media critics and younger generations go for 5 more may be true, dunno. But when the films were released, certainly 5 was considered a letdown from 4, and many expressedly enjoyed 6 more than 5. Of course it was the eighties, when E.T. ad Indiana Jones were popular. Was the original Rocky a better film than Rocky II? Rocky II certainly was considered more exciting, but it doesn't age as well. Maybe 5 ages better than 4. I haven't watched any of 4,5,6 since the eighties, though saw each at the theater multiple times back then, before cable tv and home video was invented. |

Letdown from the first? Hmm, maybe if you were a kid, sure. Adult though? I am skeptical. I am pretty certain that the reviews from the time would not reflect your claim either.
That being said, 6 and 5 did nearly identically at the box office.
And given the fact that Fast Times in Ridgemont High came out in 1982, I'd say people were saying dude before anyone even knew anything about 6 (other than the fact it would be coming out at some point). |

side-question.... who was most offended by jarjar binks?
hardcore SW fans?
Rasta-men?
<insert any other cultural or racial minority here>
Lucas shoulda just pushed it to the edge, and have him walkin' around with a boom-box and joint in his mouth.... |

| Siding with popular opinion here, I'd recommend the original trilogy. And heavens forbid you find the animated Clone Wars movie . . . I've not watched it, but judging by the show it spawned, I don't regret it. Combining kids' entertainment with politics in a film is a tricky game. |

| Just watch them in order so she understands the story? Damn some people are too dramatic. I doubt she'll be picking up on failures like Jarjar and the craptastic acting/screenplay in the newer 3 films. |

I love star wars, but my advice to you would be:
Just don't do it man.
She'll be bored to tears. Hate to say it, but Koreans are just not that big into SciFi. |

Don't diss the Trek...
and actually, looks like you're crossing three scifi franchises.... only Robot from Lost in Space would say the compute line...
or maybe it's a geek-check.... |

I the "it does not compute" was just a generic line. Lost in Space, eh? I've only seen the one with Joey from Friends. |

Yeah this is just true for anything regarding Star Wars in general. The reviews are easily better than all three of the new movies combined. She won't get it if you don't show them to her first, let alone understand the complex slang and jokes that Mr. Plinkett uses, but it's still the only way to go. |

Yes... this.
I've tried, and failed, twice. She just can't get into it, and it was torture for me too because she clearly hated every second. |

Didn't Oscar Wilde and co. create the term 'dude'? That was a [retty long time ago, perhaps even predating Star Wars. |
