Just curious.
If you left S. Korea, which city & country in ASIA would you move to if you could live anywhere and why?
Let's assume you could keep your current salary somehow so finding a job was no concern...and you were just looking for a pure lifestyle/high quality of life location on the salary you currently make. |

| Singapore, because I dig being able to speak English with everyone. Lived there for half a year in 2008 and loved it, other than high costs for going out. |

I don't have a city fetish.
A Thai island would suit me fine. Koh Kradan.
If had to, I could settle for something more crowded, like Koh Samui. |

| Sounds like a strong preference for Thailand among a lot of folks...because of the beaches? |

| Chiang Mai isn't anywhere near a beach - Thailand's cities are the kind of place that a person could disappear into, if they wanted to. It's hard to explain but I think people with escapist tendencies like me will understand. |

| Thailand is definitely the most foreign friendly in terms of amenities and things to do. I've always been drawn to the more unbeaten path though. Vietnam holds some fascination for me although I only know it from a brief 2-week visit. |

There's a lot more to Thailand than the beaches.
I'd probably go to Laos or Taiwan, depending on how social I was feeling at the moment. Laos for the warmth of the people, the deliciousness of their baguettes, and the beautiful scenery. Taiwan for the food, the scenery, and the fact that Taipei has everything to offer yet is ridiculously easy to get around. |

Definitely the most laid back and cheapest country of the region. Its almost as if time stands still there. Very friendly as well, and in an innocent sort of way. Refreshingly different to both Thailand and Vietnam.
I hope the place hasn't been corrupted by the dregs of western society since I was there (2003). |

Hong Kong.
Almost moved there a few years ago... had a job and all, but a quick Google search showed some highly unfavourable reviews of the school. Came back to Korea, and I'm happy I did.
Still haven't ruled out Hong Kong for the future though. |
