So, I am with Epik, and I gave my notice to leave August 29th. This is during my vacation time, so I am just going back to America early on the 22nd. My pay date isnt until the 25th, so I asked my school if they could a) pay me a couple of days early or b) put the money in my American account. They told me no to both. They said they will only deposit the money in my Korean account. I told them I cannot access it from America and they said that 'this is something you need to figure out.'
Does anyone know if this is BS? Can my school technically pay me early or can they give me an international check postdated? What are my options here?

I think you're expecting a little too much hoping your employer to deposit your pay in a foreign bank account.

You'll just have to figure out a way to get that money. Just go on a holiday in SE Asia and make Korea a stop on your way back.

I have a friend who that happened to.

She transferred the money to me online and then I wired her the money.

If you have anyone you can trust, I would say set up online banking and go for that. Buuuut it's also taking a big risk if that person ends up screwing you over.

Fugitive chicken's suggestion would work, or leave your bank card & pin with a trusted friend.

I doubt you can get early payment but your EPIK school is certainly capable of transferring funds to an overseas account. They commonly do it in my province. Sounds to me like your particular admin office just doesnt know how to go about it or is being lazy. Talk to someone higher up the chain.

One way that might work is to open a KEB account and have Internet banking access. Then transfer your money from your school bank account to KEB. Once in your KEB account just transfer all the money to your home account. You need to set this all up while you are still here. As long as you can transfer money from one Korean bank account to another it should be gold.

I second the KEB suggestion. Made everything so so so easy when I got my year-end money.
