So back in the day when these two played, I was a fan of the game. Now, I could careless...I have lived abroad for the last 10 years and don't really follow the NBA all that much anymore.
But, I just read that Jordan will give the opening speech for Pippen's induction to the Hall of Fame this Friday. Cool. I read a great article on Yahoo about this. The writer said that these two fellas were the best one-two punch in the 90's. Someone also posted that had Pippen not been there, Jordan would not have won all those championships that he had won. I believe that.
The article got me thinking and my question to you is this: Who do you feel was the best 1-2 punch the past decade in the NBA? Note the question one more time please, 1-2 punch...not 1-2-3. Now I would imagine alot of you feel it would be Shaq and Kobe. Which is fair to say. But lets try and throw out some other names. Nash and Amare? Dirk and Nash? Yao and Tracy? What do you think... |

Toss up between Kobe/Shaq and Nash/Dirk.
Side note: Miami Heat need to lose. |

You can't really debate the results. They won 6 titles in 8 years. There is alot of good combos but not with this kind of success. |

I think Stockton/Malone should be given more props than they get. |

Pasty and the Truck Driver are arguably the best combo ever! Most assits of all time from Stockton and up there for all time points in Malone.
But I want to know who you think the best combo of the last ten year is. I guess it would have to be Shaqfu and Mr. Denver. But lets name a few others from the years 2000-2010. Duncan and Ginobli? Shaq and D-Wade?
Lets talk 2000-2010 |

After Jordans own speech at the hall of fame ceremony for himself, he should not be allowed anywhere near a microphone. |

Out of curiosity, how old are you, DaeguKid? I have a theory that posters who include the words "kid" or "boy" in their handle are generally at least 40. What's your story? |

Shaq/Kobe I disagree with. A good combo but nowhere near Jordan/Pippen
The reason why is that was when Shaq was in his prime and any good 2/3 guard in the upper tier would have complimented Shaq in the triangle offense. Shaq daddy made it easy for everyone forcing double/triple teams every night. Kobe was good but Shaq could have won those rings with other players. Kobe knows it too which is why he is on a mission to win rings that have nothing to with shaq.
Stockton/Malone for me. If JOrdan had just stayed retired they would have had 1 if not 2 championships. |

For the very brief time that I was into basketball I really liked Charles Barkley/Kevin Johnson for the Suns. Had me a purple and orange suns jacket first year high school! Wow, Johnson is now mayor of Sacramento, California. Didn't see that one coming.

Had to watch it to see what the fuss is about. 60mins of clapping and a crappy suit, so far. |

Good speech. Men like Jordan have the right to be cocky. They earned it and can back it up.
I was interested in basketball around the hey day of Jordan and Pippen. I was a Hornets fan. Mourning and Johnson led them to the play offs around '95. I could probably name less than a dozen players now. |

I'm with you on this, but I think they were more late 90's. I'm not sure, but I haven't really followed basketball since '96. That was a great season IMO. The Seattle Supersonics actually did well for once, and Kemp/Payton somehow beat Stockton/Malone but were beaten pretty badly by the bulls. There was one great play by Kemp in one of the championship games, though. Rodman was at the height of his game, fame and controversy. He was fouling the supersonics throughout the series, and Kemp landed a pretty sweet dunk and landed on Rodman's shoulders. |

Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn. You said 1-2 punch right?
NBAJam- Mourning and Johnson or Miller and Smits. Did they have Kemp and Payton on that? |
