Has anyone had trouble using internet banking with Hanna Bank on an apple computer? I cannot access my account because their website only works with internet explorer and I do not have it.
I tried downloading an old version of internet explorer but it is not compatible with my computer as I have a newer version of OS.
I am also finding certain Korean websites that I cannot use with my computer. (i.e. I tried going online to find a subway station route and it will not let me select the station I keep pressing my mouse over the name and nothing happens)
Please let me know if anyone has encountered this problem and if you were able to fix it. |

Most Korean web sites require the use of Windows AND Internet Explorer. Even using Windows and Firefox will often prevent you from accessing Korean sites. There is basically no way you will be able to access Korean sites properly on a Mac, no matter which browser you are using.
Your best bet is to run Windows through BootCamp, Parallels, or Fusion when accessing Korean sites.
That being said, changes are happening due to the iPhone and Android phones. For example, my university's web site has never been accessible from a Mac. However, due to the number of students with iPhones the university made the website compatible with Safari, so I am now able to access it and enter the syllabus, grades, etc (just happened this year). Also, some banks, like KEB, have iPhone and/or Mac applications, which will allow you to access your account through your iPhone or Mac.
So, I guess you'll either need to run Windows on your Mac or switch banks. |

Thanks for the advice.... What is BootCamp, Parallels, or Fusion. Do you know how much a windows software for the Mac would cost and where I can get it in Seoul?
Thanks |

BootCamp is better if you need the native intel processor such as for gaming. Parallels is better for casual use of windows files because doesn't require a reboot like BootCamp. For banking, i've just used Parallels with Windows 7 works fine. Make sure to install the Korean language pack otherwise some Korean characters may not display correctly. Windows software costs the same whether it's for the Mac or not. |

So do I need to buy windows and the software bootcamp or parallel? I originally thought I only needed to download the software.
Thanks for the advice....I am not that computer savvy and want to make sure I am purchasing the right software. |

You can get pirated copies of both Windows and Parallels but if you will need to buy Parallels http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/ and a copy of Windows from Microsoft.com. Or visit a Best Buy kind of retailer. |

Boot Camp is built into every version of OSX 10.4 (I think) and later. It does require the use of an Intel Mac. So, if you have an Intel Mac and a recent copy of OSX, all you need is a copy of Windows and you'll be able to boot into Windows whenever you need to.
As others have mentioned, Boot Camp requires a reboot and is probably overkill for online banking. It might be better to pick up a copy of Parallels or Fusion and run Windows using those, as they will not require a reboot. To learn more about Boot Camp, go here:
http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
To learn more about Parallels or Fusion, just use your favorite search engine and plenty of info will come up. |
