I read earlier today that it is very expensive in Seoul night clubs. The drink prices are extortionate and the prices of admission can be as high as $100. Is that accurate?

No. Maybe a booking club, but not a western style club. The prices are similar to other large cities. The really nice clubs can have a cover of 30,000 and higher. While your average club may be anything from free - 20,000 depending on the night.

Drinks are pretty similar too. Anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 depending on the place/drink.

I was asking my husband about booking clubs and when I explained to him what I had heard he said "Oh, you mean a night club. We call them night clubs." He's Korean so I wonder if that is what whoever told you they were expensive meant a booking club.

In Gangnam for example most the clubs are 20-30,000 on the weekends which includes a 5,000 WON coupon towards drinks. The beer is usually 5-7,000 depending on what it is. S being 5 and a corona at 7. None of this is much different than back home bar prices for drinks. Except in my college town the bars had outrageous prices.

나이트 = 부킹 = Korean-style club with an empty dance floor, where girls get dragged to your table, and you have to buy expensive plates of fruit and drink. As red devil says, expect to pay well over a grand at the decent ones. You can get away with the minimum platter (maybe 30,000won for 3 small beers) at some places, but if you're going to do that you may as well stay home.

클럽 = Western style club. You need to pay a cover charge, and then drinks are similar to back home. Some/most(?) western-style clubs here also have private rooms where you can spend loads of money, but there is no booking(paying a waiter to bring you girls to talk to).
