Does anyone know if it's possible to simply hike up the mountain at night, take a nap up top, and wake up to the sunrise? I'm wondering if it's against the law or if somebody will come around to kick me out. I've been searching online for information, but can only pull up stuff about Palgongsan campsites. Will I run into any problems? Any help would be much appreciated.

I've wondered about this regarding a lot of places in Korea. My assumption is that it wouldn't be an issue, but I'm curious what the actual policy is.

Not sure about that mountain, but most of the ones I have been to say very clearly (albeit in Korean) that there is no camping allowed on the mountain.

That doesnt seem to stop Koreans who i often see hiking down with camping gear though.

I think you can get away with camping just about anywhere just so long as you don't build a fire.
