|
|
I need to go to the British embassy in Seoul tomorrow to get an Apostille (or whatever the equivalent is) on my degree.
Has anyone done this before? Do you know how long it will take and how much it will cost? I know the opening hours are early in the am, so any help before then would be great thanks! |

Do they provide this service? Says on their website that they don't. |

Really? That's strange. Because on Daves it says that you can't get an apostille but you can get a letter that states its the original. Its not quite the same thing but it does the same job. Apparently.
Eek. I'll have a look on the website myself just to make sure. |

Ah I've just read it. Oh well, I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say. |

I went a couple weeks ago.
They no longer notarise, but they give a stamped letter to go with the degree. I'm told this is good enough for immigration. |

Those of you getting this letter from the UK Embassy, are you taking a notarized copy of your degree to the Embassy, as per requirements for new E2 Visa processing?
What exactly is the content of this stamped letter? Do immigration accept it in place of an Apostille?
Best,

Mistake:
The embassy provides a verification letter for the CBC only, not the degree.
I called Immigration.
if you are applying for an E2 before September 1st, all you need is your original degree + sealed transcripts.

British Getting an E2 Teaching Visa in the UK
Please follow these instructions for British to get visas to teach in South Korea.
STEP 1 - Documents Collection, Notarisation and or Apostille Authentication
You can start this process BEFORE you get a job offer.
1.Copy Original University Degree with Apostille ** NOTE: as of August 31, 2010, Korean immigration will no longer accept original degrees: ONLY copies notarized with Apostille)
degree must be a Bachelor's degree (at minimum) in any discipline
degree must be from an accredited university
To get a notarized & Apostilled copy:
make a photocopy
have the copy notarised by a notary public
send or take the notarised copy to the apostille in the United Kingdom |

So does anyone know yet what the british embassy will do?
im looking for a new job now and i will be handing documents after the 1st of sep.
last year i just did the 10 quid police check and took it up to the F.O in m.k
as far as i can tell this will still be allowed at least until december.
will the B.E in seoul do that for me instead of me sending to M.k?
as for the degree certificate what do i need to give after the rules changed?
it looks like an apostled copy? if that is right how can i do that? do i have to send it back to the u.k or can i get it done here?
any help would be good as recruiters, the immigration office and the s.k embassy in london have all been as helpful as ever !!! |

You will have to send a notarized copy of your degree back to the UK in order to get the Apostille.
British Embassy will not notarize or issue apostilles.
The British Council can verifiy and stamp your degree for you which the FCO say that can legalize (apostille). |

If you include the delivery costs, an apostille going to set you back about one hundred pounds.
I really hope that there's a way to do this IN Korea. Any information I get will be shared here. |

| Can anyone explain what was wrong with using sealed transcripts that were signed and sealed as a way of authenticating that the degree is bona fide? I recently spent 50 pounds - in anticipation of a return - on two sets! Now of course they are superfluous to requirements unless I get a job and the visa sorted out within two weeks, which will be really touch and go. In fact, this latest change to the visa rules is almost putting me off altogether; the whole process is criminally expensive, almost representing a tax on jobs abroad. |
