|
|
Here's my situation:
I'm in something of a hurry to leave the UK, really I'd like to be in Korea by the first of September, I'm thinking about booking my flights now.
I've not finished my E2 visa application yet but will have it sent off by the 23rd of August. Basically means that it won't have processed by the 1st of September when I'd like to be in Korea.
So my question is, can I purchase a visitors/tourist visa in the airport, and then just have my E2 posted to me from my home adress?

Short answer is no.
Long answer is:
a) If it is your first E2 then you need a consular interview at the Korean consulate in your home country before they put the E2 in your passport. Hard to do if you are in Korea.
b) you need your passport with you when you travel here as a tourist. Hard to get the visa put into your passport when it is here and not at home.
You can't mail it home because you won't have the exit stamp from Korea to enable them to put the E2 visa into your passport. If it was as easy as mailing your passport around then people wouldn't be doing visa runs every time they change jobs.
c) IF you are from one of the countries where you can get an E2 as an English teacher then you can't get a tourist visa for Korea. You can get a 90 day waiver stamp on arrival.
