Hello one and all. My school contract is up soon and I won't be renewing. I'm looking for a new job in Korea. Does anyone know the process (if any) of transfering my E-2 visa from my current school to my new job prospect? Thank you. |
Just did this... and it wasn't difficult.
If you're starting your new job before your old contract ends (my old school is letting me leave about 1 week early to start the new contract) then you need a Letter of Release from your old school... if not, then you don't need that.
You need to take your new contract-- one original and one copy, to Immigration, along with your ARC and passport. You will also need to take certain documents from your new school ( they were all in hangul, but I believe they gave the school's id #'s etc). The fee was KRW 60,000 for a single entry visa and 110,000 for a multiple entry visa.
I took all this with me to the Immigration office.... they checked the documents... kept my passport/ARC for a week for processing... and I came back and picked them up 1 week later. Very easy...
Now, I'm finishing one job on Friday and starting the next one of Monday, so I'm not leaving the country in between.
I've been told that if you leave the country between contracts, you have to go through the whole visa process from scratch just like you did the first time---- so it's much better to stay put until the new visa's in place.
Oh... and depending on when this is happening, there are some new requirements in the works as to CBC and Diploma, so just check to make sure you have the right documents for those. |
