I've been in Korea for one year, and in the past month or so I've noticed my sweat has been smelling different than it has at all other periods of my life.... the smell is maybe more sour? So, is all the korean food finally catching up to me and it's beginning to change my scent? Or could there be another reason? Anyone else experience this?

What have been the most pronounced changes in your diet? I noticed I started stinking less after I cut down on the dairy (milk in particular). Maybe you're overdoing it on the pickled produce.

My BO has gotten to the point where it is necessary to take a morning & mid-day shower- even deodorant fails me! Mad

OP, I noticed the same thing too!

I would have this weird smell even though I had showered and put on deoderant.

It has to be something in Korea because I went to Japan for vacation and the smell went away.

I noticed this too, and I think it has to do with my laundry. I think it's the sweat mixed with the inadequate job my washing machine washes my clothes.

Sweat smell can be affected by your diet and it does take a while to manifest.

grandma told me to avoid the food or 'stink like an oriental.'

and i thought she was just enjoying some old-fashioned racism.

Funny you posted this, as exactly the same thing has happened to me recently and I've only been in Korea for 7 months.

I first noticed my sweat had started to smell more in mid June / early July once it started getting hotter / more humid outside. Went for a big 2 day hike across Jirisan in July and my sweat smelt like pure ammonia / peroxide hair bleach. It literally stung my nose. Did a bit of searching online and found that your body can indeed start sweating ammonia if your diet isn't up to scratch.

I'll be interested to see what happens when I go home for 2 months in the new year.
