Today was just not a good day. Long day. End of intensives. I'm warn out.

My school has made a lot of changes over the last while and not for the better.

Today, everything feels nonsensical. I need to get back into the groove because I just re-signed another contract and have 11 months to go.

I work for a hagwon that has virtually no spirit. And to save money, they are reducing teachers and giving the remaining teachers more classes. Further, I've been teaching the same awful books for the past two years and have another year to go.

Where do you guys go for inspiration? What do you do?

I felt that way after coming back to my school a second year. I had just come back from vacation and didn't want to be at work. But I think making a plan of what you would like to do in the future helps. I have a 1, 2 and 5 year plan. So I know what I would like to do at the end of this contract and I already have my vacation planned (something to look forward to). I find that if I have no goals/plans I tend to get bored and lose my focus (whether it be university or work). Decide if you plan on staying at this school, moving to another school in the same city or different city or leaving Korea altogether.

I find that most of students (not all) also give me back my energy when they come to class happy and full of energy.

Good luck! (plus there must of been something about the school you liked that made you stay for a third year)

I'm worn out too.

When did you say you were headed for the beaches?
Nothing like a week or two under the swaying palms watching the bikinis wander by to refresh the batteries.

Couldn't have wrote it better myself... The owner of ours was one of the greatest people I have met in my life, then she started working exclusively at the partner campus to improve attendance leaving our campus with the worthless assistant director... Before I never understood the hogwan hate, now?.........

Meeting new people. I've just met a fresh batch and it's not the people per se, but it's the stuff to do that comes along with it that is truly beneficial.
New people means new interests.

I've only been here 6 months though so what do I know.

Ah yes, those years upon years of complete ennuity, staring at walls for an activity. The more hobbies to think about, the better.

I wonder, if I extend for a few years here, how I will cope.

I'm sick of people cautioning me all the time too. I mean, come on, it's not like I walk while reading or touch low hanging power lines!

I don't get why batteries needing to be recharged is so dangerous either.

asses the economics of it all...

how many hours to do you work? how much money do you make?

if the difference is 200bucks a month, for a better job.. why not leave!
new school, new books, new staff, new town, NEW LIFE...
you already sound depressed, so how you gonna make it through 1 year?
even if you go off to the beach for 2 weeks... you will be sitting on that beach with 2 days to go dreading coming back... then you will get more depressed that you spent 2 million won on a vacation...

one thing I hate is the same books OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! does my head in... dude... seriously... recharge the batteries.. have a new job waiting for you when you come back... thats the best feeling....
holiday.. then a clean start!

I went to a better school with better hours, more vacation, higher salary, more support, better curriculum, etc.

Did things suddenly take a turn for the worse or was it gradual? My real question being, why did you resign if you're miserable there?
