Normally every few months I head over to KEB and send some money home. This last time, however, the lady suggested that I create a KEB bank book, which will enable me to skip the process of waiting in line and simply go to the ATM and send money that way. Easy. Simple.

Except it doesn't seem to be. Or it's deceptive. Today I went into the KEB bank (only the ATMs are open) and inserted my bank book, and then deposited the money I needed to send home. However, I realized that I only deposited money into my domestic account.

Now, I realllllly need to send money home. How exactly do I go about doing that? There's a "transfer" option, which seems to bring up other banks in Korea, but nothing that indicates the bank that I have registered with my KEB account.

A tad frustrated. Advice would be great!

you can do it online using their website in English. get you an online account (easy) and do all your KEB banking from your home/office puter...works well for me.

The very easiest way to to go to your KEB branch, and sign up for online banking. It takes like 10 or 15 minutes. Then, you'll be able to go home, and do everything you want to do with transfer on a website that is all in English.

IMO it is going to be easier for you to just go into the bank and get online banking than it is to keep trying to do it with the ATM.

does anyone know how to access KEB's online banking with a mac? Ive tried with safari, and firefox and it just wont work for me. the program you have to download just comes up as a txt file and wont install.

there is a security card they give you that you need to use when setting up your online stuff. Ive already done that (in a pc bang) but now i have internet at my house and want to access it. ill look for the mac user thing

I have the security card but I was told that's not for Macs. I was told on the phone I have to get another one just for Macs from the bank.

KEB has some good security, but is a bit of a hassle to set up, from my experience at least.

ok, go to a pc bang and bring your security card with you.
when you set up a password online, it will ask you for a registration number.

the first 6 are: last 2 digits of the year you were born, 2 digits of the month you were born, and 2 digits of the day you were born.

the last 7 are : 7, 1, and the last 5 digits of your passport number.

I called KEB english support and thats what they told me. it worked and i set up my online banking. Then once you do that, using the mac application should be no problem.

yup it is, and now that i want to transfer money home i have discovered that i in fact do need the OTP (one time password) card. damnit
