My wife's new academy has suggested that she may be required to supply immunization records for/along with her med check. I was not aware of such a requirement; I've never had to submit these records. She has had all the standard shots, but unfortunately the clinic where she received care as a kid has closed. We tried to track down her records for another purpose several months ago and we were unsuccessful. Her new supervisor thinks she may be required to "redo" her immunizations. Not only would this be a considerable expense, I'm also concerned about the potential health ramifications of having these shots again. Side effects? Danger of "doubling up?" I have no idea; I've never researched this stuff.

IS this an immigration requirement, or is it BS? I don't want her to seem uncooperative during her first week, but I also want to avoid a costly/potentially hazardous situation...

Immunization records are never required for work or travel in Korea. End of story.

Is it BS - full stop. It may be an employer requirement but it is not required for her medical nor is it an immigration requirement.

Sounds like they are looking for a way to disqualify someone they don't like

No, they're requesting it from all new teachers (several at once) and they claim it's a hospital requirement. I assume the hospital is confused about immigration requirements, or maybe this is just their internal policy. In any event, thanks for confirming that this is NOT a K-Immi thing. Maybe we can just have her medical done some place else...
