I'm curious. Is this going to be an English book or a Korean book?
On a personal level, I totally disagree with mixing the two. That's just my opinion, and I'm others think differently. That being said, if you are going to include Korean in this book (I am assuming you are aiming this book at Koreans studying English) make absolutely sure that the Korean is 100% correct.
Go and have a look at the books written by Koreans, which include both English and Korean. I can generally pick out at least 2 English mistakes on each page. I think this is a real disservice to those trying to learn English.
This is just my opinion. Good luck with the book!

First off, I'm impressed that anyone can learn a new language. It's hard work!
I have searched and searched for good Korean textbooks that have exercises and activities. I don't understand why no one has ransacked all the English books for the good activities and then adapted them to teaching Korean. I like the activity of comparing two similar pictures to practice the prepositions. You know the one: In picture one, the socks are under the bed. In picture two, the socks are on the desk.
Secondly, I think an accompanying book of readings with carefully controlled grammar and vocabulary are essential. Very carefully controlled.
Best of luck! |

It would be a book for English people who are learning Korean...actually I just remembered something now - when I was first learning Korean I had finished up Japanese and I hated the Korean textbooks for English speakers as they had no hanja in them. I plan to write all the hanja in brackets for each of the words that has one as
-Lots of people are of Chinese descent
-Lots of people have gone to Korean after knowing some Japanese
-It's good for people who don't know them as well to get used to hanja root words
I remember a French textbook I saw a while ago - twenty-five lessons plus Le Petit Prince afterwards. The problem was that Le Petit Prince wasn't recorded on the cd which was kind of disappointing. A short story of some sort would be good as well... |
