Jesus man, this isn't the heart of darkness. Go get a bottle of soju and wander around a neighborhood. Go randomly eat in a building full of Korean students. Wake up in the morning and go for a run. Get a bicycle. If your lonely go to a juicy bar. If your frustrated go to an anma. It sure beats the hell out Westnothingsville, Kentucklvania.

Come on, now, how can you say that? The only thing it's lacking is the juicy bars and some of those Amish chicks got way more spunk than a humdrum Korean girl! They also work the udders, which none of the women in the anma have ever done in their childhood. That said, have you really been to an anma? There's a whole underworld of plastic faced women getting freaky that I just haven't walked myself into. Do tell.

Please post again after you hit the 10-year mark.
I hit mine back in 2007.

Well, based on my forays in the RLDs, business clubs, and the hill, there just hasn't been a single woman or "woman" in some cases that I would want to throw absolutely any money on. The skankiness of those who offer flesh as part of the service industry in any country just doesn't do it for me whatsoever. I have always far preferred the adventure of dating someone and finding out she was nasty later, or knowing that she's nasty from the moment we've met and reaping the short term benefits of that nastiness.

Ditto and Kudos Very Happy

I remember this one forray I took back around 1998 during my first year teaching English. Me and a few friends of mine who were military dependents took some newbie soldiers on a 'tour' around Seoul's infamous red light districts.
We went to a convenient store, bought about $40 worth of soju, hailed down 3 cabs and went to each one by one. This one idiot in the group started to act funky as soon as we got out of the cabs and the girls shut the sliding door and curtain (mind you- this was toward the end of the IMF period when the exchange rate took a nose dive). This created the mood for the rest of the 'tour'; each 'glasshouse' we came upon, they would close the door. So we just drank and went 'window shopping'. We would take swigs of soju and chase it with beer (after a while, the beer didn't taste like beer anymore- but sweeter). This one 'professional' saw this long line of 'migun' drinking soju and beer and called us hard-drinkers...wow Shocked...a hooker saying that!
We went from Mia to Yongsan to Cheongnyungni to Youngpeungpo before we headed back to the 'Twon. Ironically, by the time we got back to Itaewon, things picked up at the clubs and everyone went home with a girl there that night Wink .

Boy! Itaewon was sure the Wild West back then...it was louder, crazier and more fun than it is now.

I also remember that the club area in Itaewon stretched from the beginning of Itaewon-ro all the way to Hannam and a 'juicy girl' would try to pull you in each step of the way. And in "the ville", the 'juicies' up there used to be required to carry around little health books with them that the soldiers could ask to see at any time- I remember the old saying "If the stamp is red, don't go to bed. If the stamp is blue- it's up to you." The TMC had a small outreach center offbase where the girls got checked every week.

Also 1200 won beers and 300 won subway and bus rides.

Exactly! Gotta draw the line somewhere, and this one in particular is quite clear
