I heard different rumours but when will all public places in Korea become non smoking?

I think it will be about the same time that the cops enforce stopping
at red lights.

Hopefully Korea will remain sane and leave such decisions about smoking up to the individual business owner and the customer as to whether or not they want to operate or visit such a place.

I've read by the end of this month.

http://asiancorrespondent.com/korea-beat/coming-to-the-streets-of-seoul-no-smoking

However, I've also heard by late September or next year, according to my adult students.

Ironically, whether or not they should ban smoking outside was one of the most heated discussions my adult students have ever gotten into, even more so than discussing what South Korea should do over the Cheonan sinking or the Four Rivers project. I was pretty awesome seeing my handful of middle aged students arguing both sides in English furiously while remaining civil.

i don't think this affects businesses. it's an outdoor public space ban like they have in tokyo/hong kong.

Trashing people on the internet is such a white trash habit. I really don't want to be trash-talking when I'm having a beer and getting trashed.

serious question...

why do we have to wear seatbelts in a car by law!
now I know of course I should wear one.. to protect my life.. but why is it a law where I can be pulled over and fined for not wearing one???

now.. if the answer is because The government wants to protect your life..
then why isn't smoking illegal???

DUH!!!! Because the government makes Billions of dollars a year from TAX on tobacco! and they also make MILLIONS from seat belt violators!

why is marijuana illegal??? seriously.. why is it illegal??
its a gate way drug to harder drugs!????????????
ummmm well, then TOBACCO is the first drug which opens the door.. because every bad kid who smokes wees, tried tobacco first.. then a beer second... found weed and figured out you could get high for free by planting a seed in spring!

hahahahahahahahhahaha this world is funny!!!!

full of hypocrisy everywhere you look!

Careful man, the government might start taxing punctuation marks just to be spiteful.

EDIT- Actually that really isn't a joke. They probably would if they could.

cos it costs them a fortune to care for you if you have a serious accident?

If you are seriously injured and can't work, then how can you pay taxes?

What if you don't wear a seat belt and end up killing the peron in next to / in front of you in the car when you are flying around?

and of course the obvious one that you mentioned!
