Strange question...
So a friend is having a BBQ this weekend. He is providing some food and drinks. As well, everyone is supposed to bring something as well. So I am bringing a bunch of drinks. As well, I am was thinking of making homemade hamburgers. Would it seem rude if I made only enough for the people I am bringing to the BBQ and the host? There's like 30ish people invited and I don't really want to spend all that money as beef is expensive. But at the same time I don't want to appear rude. What are your thoughts? It's not a potluck either. There will be a mix of Koreans and westerners. I mean if it was 10 people or under I wouldn't mind...but I am having to make them and pay for it...

Sorry I realize this is a strange question but I don't want to run into problems at the BBQ this weekend. Embarassed

I would say it would seem kind of strange, especially if the host were to be eating a burger in front of the guests.

Well, you say the host is providing some food and drinks.....meaning not enough food for everyone......meaning everyone should bring some food......meaning it is a potluck party!!

So yeah, bring some burgers......and if anyone looks at your burger hungrily just ask them if they brought anything!!

Bring 30 mini-burgers.

Or bring enough for 20 burgers. That's 5 lbs of ground beef. That's about 50-75,000 won. That's not too bad.

Everyone is bringing food right?, so you bring some burger patties and leave it on the table for who ever wants to help themselves...

best to ask the host what the plan is.. he might be making burgers for everyone.. so then make a salad or something which everyone can help themselves too or something else.. or if the BBQ is bring your own food and cook your own food.. them well, thats very LAME.. but then you bring your food but also be prepared to offer some new friends some...

check with your host...

How about bringing a dish that is often served at picnics from the region of your own country that is simple and cheap to prepare. For Americans, it could be as easy as deviled eggs or Waldorf salad.

Linda, when we invited you to this party, we expected you already knew that if you bring food, you have to bring enough for everyone. I'll be keeping track of this.

So we ended up bringing more than enough food and drinks for everyone:) Thanks for the advice.

For the person asking about ground beef, I normally buy the cheapest wrapped up beef packages and get them to grind it (much cheaper than the pre-packaged ground beef that the stores sell). E-mart sells it for about 1100wons/100g.
