Hello,

I'm curious if anyone knows of ESL job in Korea (or any other place really) that run for 3 or 6 months instead of the usual 12. I understand with visas being what they are and all that but for me it's near impossible to commit to being away from my other concerns back home.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Anything is possible. However, 3 months not likely. 6 months is possible but you are likely to only get a salary and housing. No other benefits are likely coming to you.

I'm pretty sure you can only get an E-2 if you sign a year contract. You can do a camp for a shorter period of time, but it's not going to be worth it after you pay for you plane ticket.

They're rarer, usually require an f-2 or F-4, and need some experience in many cases.

Some summer and winter camps hire for only the duration of the camp, which can be from 1 to 3 months. For this type of short-term work there is the C-4 visa available, as well. I've known a couple of people who have had this type of job, and they say that the schedule is pretty intense--10 or 11 hours a day, sometimes 7 days a week. You get paid more than usual though, 3 million won per month, can be more. However, few if any of these camps will give you a flight so economically it makes less sense if you live far away.

As far a six month contracts, it's not unheard of but I imagine very uncommon. Also I wouldn't expect a roundtrip ticket on any job that isn't a full year long.

I think that the camps are pretty much finished until the winter break in December comes along.

You could negotiate a 6 month job, but like someone else said, you'd get only salary and housing (and maybe a lower end salary).

If you want a short contract, go to Vietnam or Thailand.

Lots of 5-6 month contracts in China.

Most of them will pay your ticket home at the end of it as well as supply housing.

Salaries would be in the 3000-6000rmb (per month) range.
