|
|
My friend is getting her CBC is wondering if she needs to get the vunerable sector search done as well.
She said she heard Korean immigration stopped requiring it 6 months or so ago.
So, vunerable sector search, yay or nay? |

I don't think so
Mine just had 4 boxes checked off and initialed by the lady at the copshop. What is important is to get an original stamp (not photocopied stamp) on the form otherwise it is rejected. |

Not required because the RCMP won't give them for visa applications.

I disagree. I went to the RCMP 2 weeks ago for my CBC and it was expressly a "Criminal Record Check for Foreign Travel and Visa Applications" in which they searched all national databases and I also had them do the Vulnerable Sector Search, with resulted in an extra stamp applied to the CBC paper. The VSS didnt make it take any longer or anything so I would recommend getting it done. |

I think the answer will depend on if the RCMP is contracted by the province to also act as your local police force.
my criminal record check also came from the RCMP because they are the police where i live. |

I am bit confused as to whether or not I need a "Federal" check. Mines from a local police station but it's Canada wide.
My police check (April 2008) came from the Ottawa Police Department and it clearly states the following:
I consent to a search being made in the automated criminal records retrieval system maintained by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to find out if I have been charged
and/or convicted of any criminal offences or convicted and granted a pardon for any of the sexual offences that are listed in the schedule of the Criminal Records Act.
I hereby authorize the Ottawa Police Service to inquire into and conduct local police information searches Canada wide and disclose
to myself details of police investigated incidents that the Ottawa Police believes may assist an agency in making an informed decision concerning my application. |

i think it will be a requirement starting in january that all canadian and american background check must be by the national/federal police.
i got that info in an email that said it could be as early as november 2010 or as late as january 2011, but definitely for newcomers and even renewees (?) i heard.
maybe it' s bogus but that's what i heard. |

You don't need one. As long as it's searched through the national database they'll be fine. I had no issues when I submitted mine without the VSS |

I'd say you're taking a risk. Even the RCMP checks say if fingerprints aren't supplied they can't be considered validated background checks. Take your luck with immigration if you like. I don't mean VSS. That's not necessary. If you can get an RCMP check with fingerprint check you may as well. |

The information that I read from from HiKorea doesn't say "RCMP" criminal check required. It just says it needs to be country wide.
But you are right; it all depends on what Kimmi decides and we all know that Kimmi is not the most rationale creature.
If any Kimmi worker gets confused, he or she is apt to make a snap judgement. |
