I'm going through some serious withdrawal here. At home, I was rocking out to a certain type of music multiple times a week at various bars/clubs... subject heading should be self-explanatory. In any case, I'm in Seoul now and haven't found a place that does 80s New Wave music yet! Where can I go to dance to this sort of thing for hours on end? I mean I can dance to this stuff for 6 hours straight and not get enough XD Any suggestions where to go? I haven't met anyone else here who's as nuts about this music as I am, therefore it's impossible for me to find a venue for it!

Starting to think I should set up business as a DJ if I don't find something in a few weeks, seriously.

I feel for you. I am dissapointed with the nightlife here. I think you'll become dissapointed too.

In a city of 10 million you'd think all tastes would be catered for, but this is Korea. There's nothing 'sparkling' (as the advert goes) or international or cosmopolitan about the Korean mind.

Korea missed the boat.

First the cold hard truth- You're not in Kansas anymore.

Get into Korean 80s music.

I'm joking. You deserve better than 80s Korean music.

Best bet would be to bar hop and ask around. Don't just ask foreigners either, there's always a niche Korean following for everything. Ask one of your co-teachers to do a search on Naver or Daum.

Other than that throw out some invites, rent a place and set up some booze and a sound system. Might cost you 2-5 grand to pull off.

This is Korea, you have to make your fun.

Resenting people for not liking your music is a fail.

The people of Korea do not exist to make you happy.

They should not have to cater to your music tastes.

especially one asking to be disparaged.... and how long will 'new wave' be called 'new wave', anyways?

this pretty much sums up the '80s musically, doesn't it? http://media.ebaumsworld.com/picture/rin/AFlockofSeagulls.png

My buddy DJs an '80s night at Ting Tings in Hongdae. I believe it's the second or third Friday of every month, but I think it's next Saturday this month due to an '80s cover band being booked as well. Not sure if he'll be playing exactly the '80s stuff you're looking for, but I hope that helps.

How does one actually dance to punk? I thought slam dancing or perhaps moshing was the only real punk "dance." anything else would be kind of antithetical to punk, including being a punk DJ, no? Y-y-y-you, you, you punk Evil or Very Mad

The slashes make it unclear to me whether the OP meant '80s punk or more generally '80s music.
