|
|
I'm having a very difficult time buying my ticket home (long story) and my visa expires August 24th. A friend is getting married and I'm staying until September 13th so I can go to their wedding.
Does anyone know how big the fine is if you don't apply for an extension of stay, or if you apply after your visa expires? I've tried to look on the Hi Seoul website but I can't see anything.
Any info would be really appreciated!!!! |

You'll be setting yourself up for grief if you just overstay. At least a 100k won fine, could run considerably more & other hassles. Plus a permanent black mark on your immigration record.
How can buying a ticket & being legit (whatever the "long story") be that difficult? Thats what you should be focusing on. |

Go to immigration on the 23rd or 24th if possible and get an extension. When I did it, I had to show proof that I was leaving (airline ticket) but that was two years ago and I've heard now they automatically give people a month but don't quote me on that |

My sister in law just went to immigration and got a one month extension. Wasn't a problem. |

You can do it online as well. Go to the hikorea Immigration site and if you have a copy of your ticket you can fill out an e-application for free (as long as you aren't working - it is purely a tourist visa extension). They say it can take up to three days, but I did mine last week and it took about 3 hours for them to approve it and let me know. |

I think it's 100K/day of overstay. |

Technically, but from what I've heard they usually only charge you a couple hundred thou, regardless of how long you overstay. |

He's talking about his visa. I thought you only needed to extend your ARC? |

Tomorrow:
Pick a date after Sept 13th when you want to leave.
Go see a travel agent or buy a ticket on line. You can buy a ticket home or to somewhere else.
Go to the nearest Immigration Office and extend your stay. It's free up to 30 days if you have a ticket.
Done. |
