I keep getting a small thin yellowish line on my computer screen running from top to bottom. It comes on and off. When the computer is downloading the OP system it comes immediately at the same time the SAMSUNG screen is displayed. What is wrong, does anybody know?

what do you mean it comes 'on and off'?

Does it come and go when the computer is running, or is it permanent?

Usually those lines indicate a drop, or fracture along the boarder of the screen.

However, if it is not there all the time it is probably due to stress on the gfx card. This is fixable in three steps.

1. Turn off the power and remove the RAM
2. Power on the laptop to 'cold boot' your system *it wont really boot the OS, dont worry*
3. once the power is back off, reinstall the RAM

It will appear for days or weeks, then disappear for a long time. When the line problem is happening it will flicker on and off.

Its like you copied and pasted from an unrelated thread.

I hope you both have non-tech day jobs. Razz

OP....if you want some help, post detailed information. OS, desktop/laptop, specs, etc.

I assume you have an LCD screen (laptop and most flats).

Is the line a single pixel thick? If it is, then you probably have a faulty connection in the screen circuitry which doesn't send accurate signal to that line of pixels. This cannot be fixed and you'll just have to live with it.

It could be a heat issue. Does your comp get overly hot?

Take off the side panel and try running it, see if that makes a difference. It could also be a messed up graphics card, sounds like it may be artifacting (screwing up).

If its a laptop, then try cleaning out the vents some.

WTF are you talking about?

Lines that come and go in an LCD screen of a laptop are often an indication of gfx card stress due to heat. And the method I mentioned above, along with a good cleaning, will often fix the problem.

Get off your high horse.
