Is this phone available in Korea? I asked around a few stores but No one seemed to have it. I have heard good things.

It's only availble in the US with Verizon. At this point it's not being sold anywhere else in the world. However, the HTC Desire is almost identical. You can get the Desire from SK Telecom

Dang. I know the Verizon Desire can run the skype app that is constantly on (unlike the iphone which you have to turn on manually to make and receive calls) Can the Korean Desire perform the same function with skype or is that exclusive to the US too?

That is incorrect, with OS4.0 you can now run skype in the background on an iphone 3GS / 4 or an ipod touch.

Interesting, I didn't realize that. However, I also don't have 600 Yi Hwhangs to buy an iphone 3G. So I'm really looking at a Galaxy S or the Desire I guess.

I have an F2 visa and my wife can buy the phone in her name. Is the 3G still around 600,000W and the 4G around 850,000W? Plus a two year contract?

The 4G will likely come out at the same price the 3G was. You can get the phone in your name. KT made a big announcement about that a bit ago.

Here is the link if you are interested. Gmarket Iphone Deal: http://item.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=191808650&pos_shop_cd=BS&pos_class_cd=111111111&pos_class_kind=T

The deal I got the other day seems to no longer be offered, but this one is very similar. According to my brother-in-law these deals change everyday.

Actually, I spoke with a KT rep today and the iPhone 4 will be arriving in Korea early September. However, they already have 250,000 preorders so it might take some time if you didnt reserve your spot.
