|
|
Has anyone had a real success using Daves ELS cafe to find a position recently? I've been browsing the job board for a couple of months now, and it appears that some jobs are duplicated by recruiters. After emailing many of the recruiters, it feels as though they are all leading to dead-ends.
Does anyone have any recommendations for other sites to find good positions? All info is much appreciated! |

It's mainly recruiters. It seems that most Korean ELT job boards are like that now. The recruiters flood the boards. They are also doing a good job marketing themselves to the hogwans. It seems that a lot more hogwans are using the recruiters now than even 5 years ago. Unfortunately if you aren't here in person, then the recruiters are your only major option.
You just have to email your form letter, photo and resume to as many of them as you can find. Keep them all on the line until one of them give you the job you're looking for and the school gets you a visa. Until you have a visa and plane ticket then don't tell the other recruiters that you are considering or have accepted a job elsewhere. Recruiters are notorious for stringing teacher along and then retracting job offers (even after you send them your notarized docs). Until you have a visa and plane ticket to Korea (from the school) then don't close the door on other recruiters because you just might find that you need their services after all. |

I got a job at a public school using the job boards and had plenty of recruiters reply. If I where you, I would look at how you are marketing yourself in your resume and cover letter. If the recruiter likes it, they will contact you. if they don't then no reply for you. |

I got the job I have now through Dave's. I try to avoid the recruiters and replied to a non-recruiter ad put up by the hagwon itself and got the job immediately, easy as pie.
(My previous jobs I'd gotten myself and twice through Busan-based recruiters I knew in person.) |

I sent an email to five recruiters and four of them got back to me the next day. I have a feeling my blond hair and blue eyes mattered more than my qualifications. Anyone else have that experience?

Ya i had 2 recruiters neither of which knew about the other.
They both were offering me jobs, and had 2 offers on the same day.
But I emailed my fair share of recruiters before I got anything useful |

The teachers that work at my school have found the advertisements on Dave's -- I did too, but I have been here for quite a while, so my own experience with the job board is not current.
This school does not use recruiters. The pay is higher than average, and the accomodations are better, but the school also requires more experience and professionalism than average....
Just sayin' that there ARE jobs worth getting on the job board -- they just may be hidden amidst a bunch of recruiter spam.... |

Does anyone know of a job board that has separate categories for recruiters and employers?
Dave's really is saturated with spam. |
