Hi,

I may get offered a job in E. Bo Young Bundang. Anyone heard of anything about this school? The Recruiter says I would be the only Native Speaker there and the previous person in the position freaked out on culture shock and homesickness. So It looks like there won't be anyone I can talk to who is working there now. I think I'm made of tougher stuff, but I don't want to get into a bad situation unprepared if I can help it.
I've been applying for jobs since June and getting desperate.

Any help would be great.

Hi there!

I don't know how much of an insight I might give you since I've only worked there for a month. I worked at that school just for an intensive summer camp at a different location. I was actually in Korea for a vacation and my cousin who happened to work there referred me and I got a job without even having my resume checked, and at that time I was still a university student (2nd year)! Anyway, aside from my story...

The class level I taught were really young and all super beginners, literally I had to teach them from A-B-C's and phonics. The manager asked me to make a month's worth of syllabus outline and at that time it was a requirement from all teachers. So, this got a little overwhelming for me since I never had a teaching job before. Since most of the kids didn't understand a word of English, I had to come up with many creative games and sing-alongs just to get them to speak English. Luckily, at the school I worked at had the game "Guess Who" and kids loved it and it got the students practice asking questions. The manager I had was super friendly but I guess that would differ from campus to campus. This school is a reputable franchise from my understanding and they've also published many study books.

If the contract is good, I think it's worth going for it. Also, Bundang has lots of foreigner hang outs, if you want to know where you can go to hang out just let me know! I know few places I used to visit often and I can give you a detailed description as to how to get there! I used to work in Bundang (Yatap area- Not in E-BoYoung- this one was at Young-do) and it's really perfect! I loved it and all its amenities!
