I just interviewed for a school over the phone and the owner was a woman who spoke of running the school using a western style of management. Is this a good thing? What have been your experiences with a female owner? Is it rare? |

Had two one was alright the other a stuck up b!tch; depends on if the power goes to her head. Honestly I prefer male bosses. Maybe it's just becuase I can get a long with them better. |

I have had better experience with male bosses in the US. I was just curious if female bosses were less likely to screw you over. Maybe I spend too much time reading the posts here. |

The typical hagwon management style is to screw over your employees, whether the bosses be male or female. It's just a matter of to what degree they will screw you over. |

I've experienced alot more power tripping coming from female supervisors/bosses in KOREA, yet they are super friendly and giving as well. Depends if you are on their good side or not-- beware of the moodiness. |

the only hagwon owner I know in Korea is a female. She is evil, conniving, cheating, dishonest, cheap and probably a bit unstable upstairs. |

Very likely. If you're going to go about saying, "Oh, this person is X so they will be Y", you're going to run into trouble in and out of Korea. |

I think that there are probably more female hogwan owners than male. If not, then it's got to be pretty close to equal.
Most English hogwan owners that I've encountered are previous teachers. Most hogwan English teachers are women.
They aren't going to give you any better treatment than a male boss/owner would give you. |

isn't that true of most hagwon owners though?
all is not lost as long as the owner is at least decent looking.... you know what they say, "hagwon owners are like carpeting.... lay 'em right the first time, and you can walk all over 'em..." |

You will get better treatment ( as females are more sensitive) |

I disagree. That's also my opinion but it's based on my own experiences. |

My experience with one female Korean hagwan owner was that she had a Masters in Tesol from AU to compensate for her frequent illnesses and vindictive violent moods. She really pushed it on my 11th month so I quit. She also beat the kids in addition to yelling at all the teachers for nothing. |
