|
|
After 4 years of elementary school, I've been transferred to a girl's middle school. I want to adapt as quickly as a I can, so I need to find some good materials such as games, powerpoints, etc. This is the first time I've seen the textbooks so any pointers would be much appreciated. Are there any good websites with materials available to download?
Thanks. |

I really like... www.eatyourkimchi.com
I've used a lesson or two, and they've worked brilliantly. |

I find EFL Classroom 2.0, http://eflclassroom.ning.com/index.php, works pretty well with middle school kids. There are many online and PPT games, as well as ideas and suggestions - I haven't even gone through them all. This site is free.
Barryfunenglish.com is pretty good, too, like the Wheel of Fortune and Hangman games. You have to pay or submit your own work for access, though. |

Cheers peeps, I'll check those sights. How do you teach the text book? Do you follow the contents of the book, or do you use other materials? |

I have to teach the same things as the textbook, but I use my own materials. I make my own PowerPoint flashcards to teach vocabulary (Google Image search is my friend!), often followed by a game of Pictionary or Hidden Pictures to test knowledge of this vocabulary. Then I teach a structure (using just my voice and the board) and we have conversation practice.
The co-teacher of one of my classes requires that i teach exactly to the textbook, including playing the audio tapes for listening practice and having students say the scripted dialogue in the books.
http://eslgamesworld.com has templates for PowerPoint Jeopardy, Hidden Pictures, and Taboo, which I have found quite useful for my afterschool classes. |
