I read somewhere recently that many people have given up wearing watchs and have opted to use their cell phones to check the time.

Sales of watches in most categories are down except for luxury watches. For many people, watches have become a fashion accesory. Bling, bling if you have the money.

I have not given up the watch habit. I hate cellphones and have given that habit up instead. I just don't like being available 24/7.

How about you?

I fall in the category of the given up the watch for cell phone type. I hate wearing a watch and the only time my phone is away from me is when I sleep.

I only wear a watch if I know I'm not going to be able to use my phone to check the time - for example, when teaching.

I cannot live without wearing a watch...partially because I worked at a camp for five summers and my tan line is still very distinct, even three years later. But mostly I use it to tell time and use the stopwatch to time activities. It's a very handy classroom tool for me.

I stopped wearing a watch in the summer...and this was because of the plastic contact sweat from my favourite swatch...now that swatch is in disrepair and I haven't found a replacement one so I am using my phone to check the time...

I do feel naked without a watch...

I have a steel watch and I wear it only when I am wearing short sleeve shirts. My watch has a pretty big watch face, so wearing long sleeves is uncomfortable.

The watch is mainly a fashion accessory to me. I hardly check it if I am wearing it.

I hate watches and cell phones. I almost never carry my cell but just check it when I return home like it was an old fashioned phone.

I wear a watch or put it on the teaching podium when I'm teaching to keep an eye on class time so I guess I only wear a watch briefly then while teaching.....

I'm allergic to all metals but gold and platinum. I love yellow gold, and own 4 watches made of the stuff.

When my grandmother died, my grandfather gave me her wedding ring. He'd made it by hand, and it's really important to me, so I wear it every day. Unfortunately, it's white gold, so I can't wear any of my watches with it.

I've been watch free for a couple of years now.

I enjoy wearing watches. It makes me feel complete. I have several B and C grade Swiss watches and soon hope to step up to an A grade.

My watch went through 2 new batteries this summer. It's the humidity, and the battery repair guy not sealing the back of the watch with glue. So my watch is staying in a plastic bag (with my MP 3, an electronic alarm clock, and water absorbing crystals) until this summer humidity is finished.

I've been carrying a small Casion digital alarm clock in my pocket for a month or so, and I've now got rid of my watch 'tan' line. All good.

Definitely a fashion accessory. I'm hyper sensitive to weight on my body, especially things in my pockets so I try to avoid even carrying a cell phone.

I like how watches compliment things, but they are an accessory I save for evening wear.

I used to wear watches all the time. About 10 years ago, I bought one of those el cheapo Rolex knockoffs. Wore it all summer, by the end of the summer, sweat from my arm ate it away. Unfortunately, my wrist also turned green and got a nasty rash. It was probably nickel poisoning, but to this day I can't wear a watch very long, even titanium ones. Now I wear a pocket watch or just use my cell phone, depends on my mood when I'm getting dressed.

I used to wear cheap plastic watches when I was younger, but cell phones have replaced them. It's more comfortable not having the wristwatch stink and irritation. Watches today such as those in duty free and jewelry shops seem to be more about fashion than for telling time though you can still get cheap watches. They are useful when traveling without a cell phone.

I feel the same way. I stopped wearing watches a few years ago. I take the cell phone with me when I feel like it. I have other sources for checking time, such as my iPod. In the classroom, there's the clock on the wall or the computer/TV screen which I always turn on.

Haven't worn a watch since my cell could fit in my pocket.
