|
|
I read on wiki that there is a new route between Daegu and Busan to be completed in 2010.
Anyone have more info on this?
How long will the new route run? And is it still scheduled to be completed this year? |

After eight years of delays, the Daegu-Busan KTX line is slated to be opened to passengers near the end of this year. Once it opens it will take two hours and 18 minutes for the nation's homegrown bullet train to run between Seoul and Busan, shaving 22 minutes from the current travel time. The new tracks are entirely Korean-made.
The line also offers four new stations including Singyeongju, a city full of cultural heritages, and Ulsan, the nation's leading industrial city. The city of Gyeongju projects that the new section will bring huge economic benefits to the region, attracting at least 100,000 more tourists from Korea and abroad.
The Korea Railway Network Authority plans to carry out comprehensive safety checks until October and start commercial operation in early November.

Yaya, you are sounding more Korean by the day! Overinflated nationalistic claims repeated uncritically like mantra. Let's not forget the new HSR-350x train is very similar to the original KTX1 design which was French. Sure, the Koreans have copied and changed bits of it but from an engineering perspective it's considered the same type of train with common principles and structures. |

Duh, did you see the link I attached? Those weren't my words, they were from the article, which I posted to answer the OP's question. |

Poor yaya, gets called both a nationalistic Korean by one poster, and a closet racist to Koreans by Madoka on another thread, gotta love Dave's.
Call me simple, but why is the KTX line going via the coast as in Ulsan, and then to Gyeongju and then to Daegu in an effort to save time? or is this a totally new line as I thought they were building new special KTX tracks on the Busan-Daegu leg as the train seems to crawl until some point past Daegu on its way to Seoul.
Why can't Busan Station be in Haeundae? Takes me a bloody hour to get there |

I think the reason the KTX line goes into Ulsan is because they probably wanted to include the 7th largest city in the network. With the exception of Incheon all the major cities have access to the KTX. Now they just need to complete the high speed section for Gwangju.
Ideally one day their whole train network will be all high speed. |

Yeah- they should have the KTX extended to Incheon , but it is really densely populated. There is so much unused space from the rail lines they have now, it wouldn't be too expensive- but no one wants to do the smart thing which saves cash.
I'm surprised the KTX rail isn't also extended to the East sea near Sokcho. Last time I visited back in '08 they were building something... but like the Yangyang airport I fear it is just a big pork project. |

Duh, did you read my words? I saw that you repeated uncritically the hogwash. You could have left out the "entirely" Korean made and the "homegrown" bullet train. Hence, my comment.

We know Yaya is not Korean and that Madoka is gyopo. Their posts show one as often apologist and the other as rabidly so. Yeah, lots going on at Dave's, much of it predictable. It'd be nice to get straight facts sometimes. |

Hell, I just wish people would stop using socks and keeping it clean (relatively, we all have our days) so they don't get banned and returning with a clean slate. It's hard to keep up with it all. |

So you are griping that I didn't exclude the words you didn't particularly like? Get a life.
And for the record, I AM a gyopo. Sheesh, the fact that many don't believe a gyopo can criticize Korea and Koreans shows how small-minded many on this board are. |

Yes, but all means clean up all the smelly socks. They are dirty and stinky.
Now who shall we accuse of being a sock first? |

Haha I wish I knew. Kind of annoying though when someone with a join date of less than a week comes in talking tough and giving people shit and acting the expert on all things Korea.
Pretty sure though "Afghankush" is Cohiba though. |

my god does any thread here NOT turn into annoying bickering over the most trivial things?
Yaya -
