Hi,

I just got an electric convection oven. So, now I'm wanting to do some baking, but at E-Mart they do not have muffin tins, cookie sheets or any such baking utensils. Not surprising, of course.

But, I wondering if anyone knows where to get them. I do recall being in such a huge kitchen supply store once at Namdaemun that is certainly likely to have this kind of stuff, but maybe some of you know of other stores with these supplies.

Thanks.

I have never found Emart to be helpful, but try Lotte Mart or a Homeplus. You'll never be able to find the wide variety of stuff like back home, but it is possible to find basics here. Just takes some time.

My e-mart has some of that stuff. Near the pots and pans. Is yours one of the bigger e-marts or smaller ones?

I do a fair amount of baking and Gmarket has been the only place to find the ingredients i need not to mention pans of varying sized and shapes.

If you're in Seoul, the area around Ulchiro-4-Ga (almost directly across the street from where the Army Corps of Engineers compound is located) has a few baking/cooking supply shops. They have pretty much everything you could want (minus the ingredients), including the paper cups to put in the muffin tins.

Ok, it took some looking, but I remembered a site! It's all in Korean so you'll have to have someone help you.

http://www.ehomebakery.com/src/main/indexpage.php

And if you're looking for some recipes:

OMG

Good site~

Don't tell AsiaESLBound about the kilogram of pepperoni for 8.500won though, it'll blow his conspiracy theory.

Check out Bangsan Baking Market.

It's in the same area that everyone's mentioned near Jongno 5 or Euljiro 4. It's great!

There are also some great websites in Korea that will send you everything you need! Smile

Here's the directions to Bangsan baking district:

Go to Jongno5ga station, on line 1 and go out exit 7. Walk straight till you cross Cheong-gye-cheon (the stream), then turn right on the road immediately after it. The first left you get to has a sign above it that says 방산종 한 시장. Walk in a bit and you'll find dozens of shops selling ovens, utensils, bake ware, ingredients, and everything else you could need to bake. There's much more variety than Emart or LotteMart.

Great. Thanks for the directions. A whole baking district. Sounds like a fun outing.
