According to epics website, the salary for a beginning teacher is 1.8-2.0. How does it get decided exactly what it is? When does this get decided? For example, if I were to sent out an early application in October, during which month would it be determined whether I'd be getting 1.8 or 2.0? WOuld I only find out after I'm already in Korea and sitting across the table with the contract in front of me? |

That depends on many things. Do you have a TEFL or TESOL? DO you have an English degree? DO you have prior teaching experience? in Korea? Where the school is also carries weight on that decision.
You will know your pay when they end you the contract to sign and maybe before. Just sell yourself in the interview and you get get the bump. If you take a job in the boonies, you will also get the bump, but those jobs are rough for some people. |

Thanks for this. According to the SMOE guidelines, I would qualify for 2.0 Million per month. I have a BA in English Literature. I have a TESOL from Oxford Seminars but it is only 60 hours (WTH), why didn't they offer me the 100 hour course? Anyway, the SMOE says that I would need to satisfy one of the requirements, is the regualr Epik the same? |

Oxford Seminars is a money-grab. Practically speaking, it's no better than the cheapest online TEFL (possible pay bump), but it's virtually useless to you as a teacher. |
