It's fun reading a bunch of posts about how horrible your host country is and yet you continue to stay. Personally, my time here has been incredible. Met fabulous people from all over the world who had nothing but good things to say about Korea, museums out the ying yang, awesome hiking and mountain climbing trails, nice beaches, great transportation system, good cheap food, nice people willing to help you even though most of your talking is done with your hands, establishment owners who welcome me with open arms, girls who are sincerely interested in learning more about the western world, Lotte's waygook discount program, etc etc.

But this site brings to light a side of Korea I have never known and never seen. I have some issues with Korea like stinky bathrooms, smelly alleys, guys passed out in the middle of the street, prostitutes everywhere foreign and domestic, parents that pretty much let their kids run all over them, girls running into your back on the subway and getting home and realizing you'd been walking around with a make-up imprint with that girls face on your nice white michael kors shirt all day, etc etc but you guys take the cake.

I would suggest either moving back to where you came or finding yourself a nice girl who MIGHT drive you a little crazy at times but you'd spend more time noticing her and less time having delusions.

BUT, I do find most of the posts very amusing. almost every Korean in my hagwon is reading it now. lol

I fall within a grey area.

Back home = dull daily grind, a constant, consitent wave on the electrograph of life with regular, minimaly diverging fluctuations.

Korea = cheap spacious housing, food, booze, smokes; laid back law enforcement; easy job with low workload, not having to adhere to Neo Confucian norms in the whole + the odd 1 million megaton stress bomb from students or co-workers = a place where I flatline in comfort and ease for months at a time only to then be bought to the point of near anneurism once every month or two, before the paramedic team of cheap booze, smokes, easy job etc re-stabilise me after a day or 2.

There's a lot I like and a lot I detest, just like back home. And I wouldn't want to be here as a Korean, both due to my own observations and my Korean male friend's own accounts.

I think about 90% of the people on this board think the same as you...there are plenty of great things about Korea that make you want to stay, and plenty of small annoyances that you can mostly just laugh off or complain about once and then move on.

Let's face it...Korea is weird.

I can't believe this forum still uses a version of phpBB from 2002.
Someone needs to look up some old exploits already.

Perhaps we need to revive one of the legendary Jongnoguru's "Post Nothing of Interest" threads.

Or start a new one.

Not a new legend. Nor a debate about the oxymoron. A thread. A thread to post crap no one's really interested in.

A practice thread.

Could you explain what that means please?

Am I the only one concerned that the OP appears to be an ESL teacher, and doesn't know the difference between "addictive" and "addicting"?
