Nobody wants NK except the Koreans.

China needs to solve it's own ethnic issues and with Taiwan before even thinking about taking over NK. As long as the Koreans know who the economic boss is, they'll leave Korea to the Koreans, as they historically have done. And no way China would let a non-Asian power like Russia intrude more into their sphere of influence.

I think China is happy to have North Korea between it and SK (i.e American forces) and Japan.
Agreed, I highly suspect that Japan, SK, American forces and Russia all have similar reasons for wanting to maintain North Korea's existence.

I think there is a "Peaceful Resolutions Bell Curve" on this kind of thing. For the first 25-35 years of this there was a lower chance for a peaceful resolution. Now the chances for a peaceful resolution are increasing, perhaps peaking with the death of KJI. After a while however the chances of a peaceful resolution will decrease because with two countries that neighbor each other it is usually inevitable that they get into some sort of war. There are exceptions, but I wouldn't bet against anything.

Things can change. Maybe some crackpot NK scientist strikes gold and comes up with some sort of Bond Supervillain type weapon to use against the South. Maybe the NK Armed Forces become so enfeebled that the SKs just waltz over and take the place in 12 hours.

In South and North Korea there's a growing feeling of hysteria.

Mr. Kim said we will bury you.

I don't subscribe to this point of view.

If there is any war, it will be started by North Korea doing something dumb like sinking another ship.

Nah, all his posts sound like that. In fact, that one was one of his more coherent, mistake-free posts.
