I'm heading to Vietnam soon and was wondering if anyone has any experience in the best/cheapest way to exchange currency? I don't have any USD, nor do I have a credit card. All I have is my Nonghyup card (I assume this won't work outside of Korea) and then KRW, of course.

I need to convert some to USD (for the entry visa into Vietnam and Cambodia) and then some into local currencies. Anyone with more travel experience than I: is the cheapest place to do this at the airport before I go (ie, Incheon)? Or should I wait until I'm at the ground in Vietnam, or can I do one of those online currency orders (the ones I looked at don't accept KRW, but I don't really know what I'm looking for).

Any advice appreciated! Thanks.

Buy some VND (Vietnamese Dong) and KHR (Cambodian Riel) at the airport in Incheon (about 100k won worth of each). Get the rest of your travel money in US$.

DO NOT TAKE WON OUT OF KOREA.

You can get your USD at any bank (in Korea) with a forex desk or at the airport (which ever is most convenient for you.

Your ATM card will probably be useless in both of your target countries.

Don't I need to take some KRW out of Korea for the re-entry visa? About 40,000, I heard. Thanks, by the way.

Get your re-entry permit BEFORE you leave Korea or you will end up canceling your E2 and have to get a new one before you can return to work.

Go to the immigration desk in the airport (before you go through security).
It is in a short hallway behind check-in counter "F" or "H" (entry behind both of them).

The cost is 30k won and you will need your ARC. passport and fill in an application form. The office is open from 6am - 10pm every day.
