wondering about what single 40-somethings who like myself -- enjoy nightlife -- do come the weekend. Personally, I live for clubbing but these days I feel too self-conscious trying to party among people ten years or so younger. Please, lamenting about getting older is far from my scene. I'm just curious about what people around my age find themselves doing Friday and Saturday nights?

I've seen some older koreans form semi-moshpits down in front at trot concerts.

You can either stop feeling so self conscious or stay at home and lament your domesticated weekends.

When I worked the door for several clubs stateside there were always 40 somethings, even older? somethings that came in and partied it up with no issue whatsover. The caveat is these were cool people who fit right in, so I saw a lot of fashionable types, artists, etc rather than accountants or anyone in a business suit. Those people wouldn't get in anyways.

Unless you truly look like the old man or woman at the bar then mixing with late 20 somethings, and certainly thirty somethings shouldn't be any issue whatsoever.

if you want, PM me and we can go clubbing together. I need a wingman (hopefully you look a bit younger?) and have decided to finally check out the Seoul club scene as I tire of the boozed up bar scene very quickly. Unfortunately getting to Seoul is a huge pain in the behind, actually coming home is a far bigger pain.

my old roommate/hagwon coworker was a 40-something drug addled Limey... he didn't seem to have any problem finding somewhere to drown is sorrows.... Rolling Eyes

but long story short, I aided in getting him fired- well, he did most of that himself by irritating the kids and their parents. and his last day at the apat was classic... "Now, as you know, we Americans have a history of kicking the Brits off our turf, so I'll bid you adieu now!" Cool

anyway, booze it up, but act yer age... no one wants to see something that old in hot pants... Wink

I have a handy list of MILF's and even cougars I'd like to see in hot pants before disposing of said accoutrements entirely.

Because you don't want to be the old guy in the club.

You know what I'm talking about. Every club you go into, there's always some old guy. He ain't really old, just a little too old to be in the club."

Age is a state of mind. Obviously it also depends on how one looks.

When my time comes, I won't care about being the old guy in the club. It beats the alternative(s).

Besides, it depends on the club. As I mentioned, there were many artsy and alternative older types that came to the club I worked at, which was the most popular club at the city and exercised face control rope entrance policies. They tended to hang out in the vip room rather than the main dance floor but were certainly not excluded from or never seon on the main dance floor (in that club, they were 2 seperate and distinct rooms)

I think I'm also looking forward to being a dirty old man. That also beats the alternative(s).

madoka's just trying to keep the not yet so old guy down.
don't allow it. That said, the choice is yours. And I can't PM yet either.

p.s. I will agree with him if you look like a middle aged accountant though. and I hope you're not too fat, that'll depress your fun quotient faster than your birth certificate.

but if you look like Clooney, Pitt or even Billy Bob Thornton, you'll be fine Very Happy Matthew McConaughey is 40 and I'm pretty sure he doesn't look out of place at any club. Ditto Matt Damon and many other guys that age.

Vagabundo, let's work out the details around mid-week, cool?

It would still be nice to know what older Westerners who were into club bing are now doing for fun here. Are they all married with children?

I'm 26, and I'm honestly starting to feel too old to be in clubs. Maybe it's the youth-oriented society in Korea though.

Surely past the age of, say, 30 you have to start forgetting about clubs anyway though? Would have thought bars with a dance floor and an older crowd are the way forward after that age. Not sure if these exist in Korea though...
