They opened a new EMart is Pocheon, north of Uijeongbu about 30 minutes or so.

It has a pizza shop similar to the pizza you get at Costco.

But you order it and they tell you it takes 30 minutes.

I guess they're trying to use it to get you to shop more.

It has a food section on B-1 and a main floor on the 1st floor and the lanes are USA wide, a real difference from other EMarts I've been to where the lanes are barely big enough for two carts not to hit as they pass each other.

Another Costco-ish thing I noticed was they're selling cereal in bulk, these giant plastic bags of Corn Frost, a.k.a. Frosted Flakes, for example.

But mostly it's the same old EMart in disguise.

I went to a pretty new EMart in Dongtan (near Osan) the other day and it was the old style, so this may be a very new change.

I'd say it's a little better, but I still need to make the usual monthly run to Sangbong Station and Costco.

I'll see you there! Emart will never have anything over Costco. Well, except for stuff you don't have to buy only in bulk, I suppose.

Homeplus has been doing the pizza thing for a while as well. They also copy whatever's popular at Shinsegae, like the giant mandu.

Benchmarking is as Korean as kimchi.

I was there this week, Tuesday after work. prices are fab. Seems like 30% off of everything. But barely 100 customers in the whole place.

I've also noticed the larger available sizes at the larger E-Marts. It's more than just cereal; you can also find larger sizes in the coffee/tea aisle, some of the bottled drinks, and with many of the cooking items.

Praise and hail Emart. Now I can be as fat as my colonial cousins.
