Most ESL teachers in Korea seem to be employed at a hagwon or through the public school system.
Can someone tell me if there are corporate/business ESL teaching jobs throughout Korea? Meaning, what is the market like for Business English instructors at companies such as Samsung, LG, Hyundai?, and how does one go about getting these jobs?
I hear so many horror stories of working at a hagwon or the public school system that I am considering working at a company instead. For those of you who have worked the corporate scene, can you tell me: are there many jobs available?, what is the pay?, does the company expect you to develop the lesson plan or are they provided?
Any and all information would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance. |

First off, are you in country?
The corporate ESL 'gigs' as you call them, don't sponsor visas. They don't pay airfare, and they don't give housing.
You need to find these jobs in country, its easier if you have a recommendation. Those jobs don't need to advertise very much (if at all).
What are your qualifications? Why should they look at your application?
Are you a young, blonde or blue eyed female that is ready to conduct class at the club in Gangnam? I've heard something like that going on through a thread here, but too lazy to dig it up for ya |

Unless you are of Korean decent (qualify for an F4) or married to a Korean (F2 or F5) the chances of landing a "corporate job" are just about "0".
In the large majority of cases the company (or branch if it is one of the conglomerates like Samsung) is not able to sponsor an E2 (teacher of foreign languages) visa and the requirement for an E7 (specialist) is "typically" a masters degree in a related field and several years of experience.
If you do NOT have an F2/4/5 visa then you can pretty much kiss the idea of that kind of job goodbye. The closest you will probably get is working nasty split shifts at an adult hagwan and being (illegally) send out to the corporate job sites.
IF you have an F2/4/5 visa then you/they no longer have to worry about having the employer as your sponsor so they can hire you without having to deal with immigration. If this is the case, then they are usually landed via networking and connections.
