Which zoos are the best in Korea? How do Korean zoos compare to zoos in your own country?

Seoul Grand Park is a great zoo. Unless the zoo that you normally frequent in your home country is world renowned, then I think Seoul's zoo will impress. It won't make any best zoos list, but it's definitely no slouch either.

Yeah, Grand Park's zoo seemed pretty cool. Alas, my school paid the entrance fee for us all to go there only to have us spend 20 minutes at the pathetic excuse for botanical gardens on the premises, so I only saw it in passing. My kids were significantly more interested in the lions than the rhododendrons, needless to say.

I'm from San Diego. We have a world class zoo. Smile I still want to check out the zoos here though.

That zoo is disgusting! The polar bear among others showing major stereotypical behaviour. Rocking back and forwards ...

Animals in too small and dirty cages.

I will not go back

I would happily see (and possibly aid) the lynching of the owners of Cheongju zoo! Small cages that have no grass and only concrete for tigers, who pace side to side in a mental daze. Most animals kept alone, so they feel lost and depressed (yes animals do get depressed). What makes it worse is that the zoo is not properly supervised, i saw a group of men trying to impress their children by winding the tigers up so they growled, by screaming at them and making them feel vulnerable. The place should be shut down.

Absolutely.

Horrific place. I despise zoos as a general rule (with the exception of a few... the one in Johannesburg is fantastic). And, while I really love living in Korea, I can never come to terms with the attitude towards animals here (E-mart, Lotte Mart pet sections included).

I grew-up around and worked at the North Carolina Zoological Park. Perhaps I'm spoiled being around a world class zoo all my life but I find Korean zoos to be absolutely disgusting.

Agreed.
I went there in the middle of summer and saw that poor polar bear in an outdoor cage. It just stood there looking like it wanted to die. The gorilla was in a tiny concrete cell that was smaller than my first hagwan apartment. If this is what passes for an impressive zoo I shudder to think of what you would consider miserable.

Seoul zoo is pretty good, but the moronic behaviour of some of the locals is something else entirely. I just find it so frustrating to see adults feeding chocolates and potato chips to the animals, whilst everyone stands around cheering like demented halfwits.

Having seen how Koreans treat animals in general, I'd guess that their Zoos would be pretty abhorrent.
