To Languistic: Cheapskateville? 1000 won socks? What are you talking about? You are absolutely right. You are Negative Nancy. I'm sorry you are this type of person.
TFY has received several donations from people in South Korea in the past and will continue despite comments from people like Languistic. Thank you for your support. |

With an attitude like yours and poor usage of simple English I wouldn't "donate" jack**** to you. Most likely said items would end up on craigslist for sale.

Looks like they only want fully assembled computers. I have a box of motherboards and such that I'd love to donate but will probably just end up having to throw out. |

You people are being incredibly rude to someone who obviously speaks English as a second language. I think it was not a matter of him being an ass but of him not understanding slang and jokes.
Dear OP:
Who do the computers help? I looked at your website and you have offices in the US and in the Philippines. Where would my old computer go? Do you help disadvantage children in any other countries? |

For those who have negative things to say, I extend the opportunity for you to become a member of TFY so you can use your energy and writing towards more positive things in your free time.
Thanks MM. To answer your questions, we are currently helping a community center at Don Bosco Church in Manila, Philippines set up a computer center for kids to use after school. They have 3 very old computers now which are not functional and our goal is to replace them with at least 5 computers that work properly. In the Philippines alone, the opportunity to help is limitless considering the situation in certain areas of the country.
Our goal is to expand further in Southeast Asia. We have a team member in Cambodia who will be able to accept shipments to Phnom Penh in about 3 weeks so we're excited about that. We're looking for more people to join as as members and spread the word about our cause.
To Scotticus. Yes, we can only accept fully assembled computers because we do not have a computer technician to help assemble them properly. Thanks anyway. |

So you are telling us in that big city of Manila nobody is willing to donate half a dozen computers? Either Manila has changed drastically in the last year or I'm missing something. Most of the country is religious so why can't a church find donors.
Also you only take complete computers and not parts? Smells fishy...NO! It's just my neighbors cooking some half rotten fish.

With folks selling used socks for 1.000 won, I wouldn't get my hopes up in Cheapskateville. It is a great cause and yes, there have been many such calls to arms around here in the past.
Good luck though. Sorry to be negative nancy. |
Funny comment, and very true!
The other native teachers in my building regularly raid the room of a departed teacher, completely cleaning out the place taking everything up to and including the proverbial kitchen sink. Really sad to say but I can't imagine many people I've met here donating computer equipment.

Once again, if you would like to join our cause, feel free to join as a member on our website.
If you don't have anything to donate...fine. The silly comments are ridiculous. I hope it makes you feel good.
Any supporters? Thanks to the few people that have contacted us and actually donated something. |
