I served in both the US Army and the US Navy. Why do you ask?

I was in A Co. (the "attack" company), 1/503 INF. 2ID from 1990 to 1993. I was in formation at the end of the DMZ unit rotations in 1991. Then I transferred to a unit at "The Hump" in 1993 for my last year in the army.
I was supposed to join my unit at Ft. Steward when they deployed to the Gulf during Operation Desert Shield, but I came down on orders to go to Korea. But I had already seen combat before I came.

Prior to coming to Korea, my unit at Ft. Steward, GA was attached to 5ID during Operation Just Cause in Panama back in 1989 and it was there I got my Purple Heart for getting shot during an ambush. Ironically, the Purple Heart was what helped me get my job with USFK in 2003.
I worked as a Director for a MACOM at Yongsan from 2003 until 2010 when I was put on assignment with a joint ISAF/NATO multinational agency that provides logistics for the upcoming Kandahar offensive.
I should be getting my promotion to GS-14 while I'm here and I am waiting for an Area-level slot to open up in one of the 6 military regions in Korea- though, I hope to be assigned to a Senior GS position in Area-II (Yongsan USAG), but I would be happy getting assigned in Area III (Osan or Humphreys)....I'm not picky.

763rd Ottawa Communication Regiment. Reserves. This was the
Canadian army, so basically people with pointed sticks. I was
there pre-5.56mm when Canada still used the 7.62mm FNC1A1.

Was flying an F-18 during Operation Desert Shield... my wingman got a big case of the hebbie-jeebies on the way back to the carrier... that MIG really screwed him up... got back on deck and found out that my wingman turned in his wings so I'd get to go to the Top Gun academy instead of him in Miramar.

Got an urgent call on graduation day that MC-JC got busted playing naked twister with a a bunch of Thai hookers at the Pink P*ssy Parlor in Bangkok... wouldn't have been a big deal except that fact that half the senior generals from Pacific command where there with him apparently...

So I jumped in my F-18 and made a stealth landing in Bangkok, rescued MC-JC and the generals, and made a V-Line for Osan Air Force Base.

Landed in Osan... thought man these K-Girls are hot, so I turned in my wings and got a job at Wonderland so I could spend my days chasing the local tail.

Haven't looked back since...

Mid '70s - DDE262, Mackenzie-class destroyer, HMCS Saskatchewan.
Even back then I was a teacher of sorts (training squadron).

Retired from the Forces shortly after she went in for refit.

US Army, assigned to the 309th MI Battalion. Got a med board after breaking my hip during a training mission. I then spent a few years working for the military as an IT specialist before I decided "fsck it", sold all my belongings, and moved overseas. I sometimes miss the military but I'm too independent to have made a successful career out of it.

I thought the Canadian AF flew paper airplanes, not real ones (I'm sorry, but when I think of ignorant Canadians like him, I think of those bottle-neck Canadians on South Park).
...You need to really stay off pot, it's frying your brain and making you hallucinate.
HA! You remind me of those old
