I don't see the big deal. I know it ways on the FBI web page that it takes 6 to 8 weeks but I have done it twice and it took less than a month. When you finally get it just take it to the U.S. Embassy here and get the Affadvit. It's reallly easy. Just make sure to plan a little bit ahead and not wait until the last minute. Very Happy

There is still no information on immi's website, nor has the OP shared the email nor recognized the sender.

Aye. I can find nothing of the sort either. I'm guessing smoke, and a donkey, is involved here.

A federal background check is better anyway, they only include serious arrests that required fingerprinting and/or pictures.

More expensive, takes 4-6 times the amount of time to receive, AND it's annoying going through federal bureaucracy.

Soooo, the FBI check doesn't need to be Apostilled? Just take it the to US Embassy in Seoul for some Affidavit.
I have been wondering how to get the FBI check Apostilled and found a few responses in the Dave's Archives. So this is really interesting that you can just take it to the US Embassy in Seoul. Is there a little more description of what exactly we need to get from the US Embassy.

Starting September 1, 2010, you need to have the diploma apostilled to renew your contract.
Starting January 1, 2011, you need to have a federal criminal background check. You only need to submit this once.

My boss went to immi in Busan today to extend my contract by a month. He doesn't speak English but he gave me a paper in English saying that the degree apostille is needed - but no clue as to whether he managed to extend it without the doc!
