Quote:
These drawings were from prisoners' art classes, the soldier explained. Prisoners were allowed to take art classes as a reward for good behavior. Some of the drawings and paintings were quite impressive. The prisoners had a lot of time to practice, he admitted.

Until recently, taking photos of these drawings was forbidden. But in the weeks before a planeload of journalists arrived in Gitmo to cover the trial of Omar Khadr, the 23-year-old prisoner whose case is being heard by a tribunal court after nearly eight years in detention, that rule changed. The drawings were deemed safe for public consumption.

Many of those are better than the vast majority of po-mo stuff that fills Western art galleries.

^^^

Boom boom ting! Very distasteful (but funny.)

The paintings are not that good though. Most of them are copycats of Van Goh's style.

PC liberal crowd (not Cannif)

'Oooooh they were painted by dissafected youth / blacks / disabled Jewish Lesbians / torture victims / pow's... Aren't they wonderful!'

Not really. Art is good or bad judged by it's own merits. Not judged by liberal guilt and awe.

WTF, you're saying I'm not a PC liberal you f'in #$%$#@. If you were a Jew I'd tell you to go take a shower!

Before anyone gets riled up, let me explain my tasteless-ness: I went to a private academy (for the criminally insane youth) during high school and we had a kind of student floor monitor system. We had this puny Jewish kid with coke-bottle glasses who would wake us up every morning by pounding on our doors with a metal pipe while screaming "Into the showers, Jews!!" in a German accent..

He was into punk music, so that may explain his behavior.

Its true except for the criminally insane academy part (I was diagnosed much later in life).
