I'm looking to save myself from a contract and buy one from the US and wanted to make sure I got one that would work first. |

For the umpteen-hundreth time. . . .
For it to work here, you would have to buy an unlocked phone, then pay about 300,000 ($250ish) to get it registered. Then you have to pay for service. After all that work, it's easier just to get it here. The phone itself is cheap with a contract, way less than the 300,000 to get it certified. |

I already understand all that, I asked what models work. I disagree on price, everyone I've talked to has paid about 1mil here, I can do it for less.
A contact is useless to me as I won't be here long enough. I need something that will work here, then work fine back home as well.
If you're going to chastise someone, at least know what you are chastising about. |

Any phone can be registered and certified if you go through the hassle. What I'm telling you is that it's much easier to just get a phone here. It's MUCH cheaper and the plans are better than the pay-by-month you will get otherwise. |

Can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to get it certified.
Even then, who knows if your phone will be the same condition. You think the KCC will care if they scratch up your phone while they run their "tests"?
OP, you have 2 viable options in my opinion:
1. ROAM with your phone in KOrea. YOu said you wont be here long enough to be on a contract.
2. Buy a pay as you go cheapo phone and use that while in Korea. |
