So what's the deal with this program? Is it totally free to call other Nimbuzz users? I have an android phone and I am a bit annoyed with the way Skype did their exclusive deal with Verizon, but I never really used it that much anyway. I just need a way to talk to my family in the UK for as little cost as possible, using my phone's wifi.

I've never used Nimbuzz before, but I would recommend voipbuster. They have apps for android, iphone, and symbian phones. Can make cheap or free calls all over the world using wifi.

Voipbuster sounds promising. Have you used it?

I have used it for over 2 years on my PC. I just started using the android app recently. It generally works well. Call quality is fine. Most of my family and friends are in the US, which is one of the countries on the "free" list. However, they make things a bit complicated. In order to make free calls you must have "free days". You get 120 free days any time that you purchase credit. The minimum amount of credit you can purchase is 10 euros. So for 10 euros I get 120 days of unlimited free calls to the US (and several other countries), and then I can use the 10 euro credit to call countries that are not on the free list.

I used Nimbuzz to call the UK last night, and I can confirm it works exactly like Skype. Install the program, set up accounts, add users to your contacts and off you go.
Perhaps this is going to be solution to the Skype/Android problem.
