My apartment is covered in wallpaper. Even the ceilings. Any chance they sell oil based paint somewhere so I can paint over this drab mess? Wallpapering over the top sounds like more of a nightmare. |

Wallpaper is a huge hastle to get rid of. Painting over it doesnt look any better than the wallpaper (unless the pattern is hideous). To remove wallpaper, you have to steam it off, and then go over it again to get all the glue; really annoying. Unless you REALLY cant take it, i'd just live with it. |

It's not that hard. They use a different kind of wallpaper here. You have ot hire a guy to come do it. He just rips off the old stuff with a scraper. No problem. You could probably do that part yourself and have just have the concrete walls. Give you a kind of NY city loft feel.
The new stuff goes on really easy. he just cuts it, rubs a damp cloth with a special glue stuff on it and bam, all done. I just had my little one room redone about a month ago. Took him about 2 hours to rip off the old stuff and put on the new stuff. Only cost a hundred bucks.
Talk to you building manager. Having the wallpaper changed is something Koreans get done a lot so he shouldn't have a problem with it. Usually the building manager will pay for it to. |

Actually, I have seen many homes in the US with lot of wallpaper, but usually in older homes. It looks great when it is put up correctly, but that just doesn't happen here. In fact, it's atrocious and done hastily in many cases. I watched an old lady putting some up in a new hagwon, it was cut awkwardly and she walked away with a big crease left in it. I could have done it and probably for far less. |
