|

So, I am hoping to go to the USO to get fingerprinting done, as I need to get the FBI cbc if I decide to stay another year. The USO is not picking up the phone today (extended Labor Day holiday..taking both Lbr Dy on the Korean calendar and the US?)
Anyway, can anyone tell me if they will do the fingerprinting on any day/time that they are open (specifically saturday mornings?)? Is there a cost? What, if anything, do you need to bring to get it done?
On a non-USO related question....do you need to get anything done to the cbc other than asking the FBI to authenticate it?
Also, does the whole degree thing only matter for newbs? I have, in the past, given immigration my actual degree, and then, for a new contract, an apostilled copy, which is the contract I may renew. Does this mean I can skip all the hoops for degree stuff?
Thanks in advance for the help. The stuff immi tells you is....vague, as usual. And yes, I searched. |

Well, it's not the USO so maybe you're calling the wrong place. USAGY's Pass and ID Office is where I got my fingerprinting done a few years ago. Their number is 0505-724-6363 or 0505-764-4300. The hours are Mon/Wed/Fri 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
When I went there, I did not require an apointment. A plus is that they have the card stock fingerprint forms from the FBI and there's no charge for the service. I really don't know if they'll do this for someone not connected with the military. |

Okay, I'm confused, because others on this site have said they went to the USO. Is it around the same place, or could yo have used a different place, Cali? I can just get a CT to go to a local police station with me, but he pretty much tries to get out of helping me with anything, so I am trying to get this done on my own. |

CC is right; it's not the USO per se that does finger printing, its the ID and Pass Office (also known as BIDS section- biometric ID system section) on Camp Kim, which is the same base as the USO.
Also, you do need affiliation with the military or USFK to go there. |

Just called on a lark. They said I do not need to be military. I am going to try to get permission to leave to go get it done.
mc_jc, do you know if the FBI authenticating the document (per their website) is the equivalent of an apostille?
Edited to add: found my own answer, which is no. I hate Korean immigration with a passion. |
